John Bruning joins Paridon and Parshall to dig into the Philippine guerrilla movement's messy origins — Harry Fenton, James Cushing, Chick Parsons, and the internecine violence, betrayal, and backstabbing that defined the early resistance. This isn't the sanitised heroic-resistance narrative; Bruning gets into the murders, the turf wars, and the personalities who made the movement as dangerous to its own members as to the Japanese. It's the kind of ugly, ground-level East Asian theatre history that rarely gets told this honestly, and Bruning clearly knows this material cold. The long runtime gives it room to breathe.
